Foot Odour Getting You Down?

Foot odour is a common issue, and can be quite an embarrassing issue for a lot of people. There are a few different causes of foot odour which can be addressed to solve the issue, to stop you feeling embarrassed about having smelly feet.

  • Sweaty feet – each foot has about 250, 000 sweat glands and can produce a lot of sweat. Individuals who suffer from hyperhidrosis can cause bacteria to grow on the soles of the feet that produce gases similar to those released by bacteria used in the production of cheese.
  • Tinea pedis also known as athlete’s foot – is caused by fungi called dermatophytes. Tinea likes a warm, humid, moist environment. Symptoms of tinea include, itching, scaling skin, discomfort due to burning and in some cases foot odour.
  • Wearing the same shoes every day can cause foot odour.
  • Hormonal changes can cause feet to sweat more which can cause foot odour.
  • Stress.
  • Poor personal hygiene.
  • Wearing the same socks, socks should be changed daily, sometimes twice daily if you are prone to sweating.
